What is Mid-Century Modern?

Source
Midcentury modern is one of our favorite styles, but what exactly is it? It's HUGE right now, and almost any magazine or home design ad you flip through will feature aspects of it. Technically, its... the middle of the century, right? Right. It's the epitome of vintage design, as the style was popularized from 1933 to 1965. Now, this style is back in full swing. Without getting into technicalities, let's talk about what makes something midcentury modern. It's super simplistic, colorful, and natural. When you see an interior in this style, theres no clutter or extreme detail. The 50's were full of color in interior design, some that are rarely seen now like hot pink, teal, and lime green. Natural materials, plants, and open views of the outdoors are characteristics of the style. Simple geometric patterns, contrast, and sleek lines are simple facets that can be added into any design to bring a retro pop.
