Here are some of our favorite movie recommendations from each decade!

1950's:

Singin' In The Rain, "A silent film production company and cast make a difficult transition to sound."

Fun Fact: The original negative of this film was destroyed in a fire.

12 Angry Men, "A jury holdout attempts to prevent a miscarriage of justice by forcing his colleagues to reconsider the evidence."

Fun Fact: The entire movie takes place in three rooms.

1960's:

Psycho, "A Phoenix secretary embezzles forty thousand dollars from her employer's client, goes on the run, and checks into a remote motel run by a young man under the domination of his mother."

Fun Fact: To ensure the people were in the theaters at the start of this movie (rather than walking in part way through) the studio provided a record to play in the foyer of the theaters. The album featured background music, occasionally interrupted by a voice saying "Ten minutes to Psycho time", "Five minutes to Psycho time", and so on.

West Side Story, Two youngsters from rival New York City gangs fall in love, but tensions between their respective friends build toward tragedy.

Fun Fact: The actors in the rival gangs were instructed to play pranks on each other off the set to keep tensions high.

1970's:

A Clockwork Orange, "In the future, a sadistic gang leader is imprisoned and volunteers for a conduct-aversion experiment, but it doesn't go as planned."

Fun Fact: Although he is playing a 15-year-old (17 in the latter half), Malcolm McDowell was actually 27 at the time of filming.

1980's: 

The Breakfast Club, "Five high school students meet in Saturday detention and discover how they have a lot more in common than they thought."

Fun Fact: John Hughes wrote the screenplay to this movie in just two days!

1990's:

Pulp Fiction: "The lives of two mob hitmen, a boxer, a gangster's wife, and a pair of diner bandits intertwine in four tales of violence and redemption."

Fun Fact: The shot of Vincent plunging the syringe into Mia's chest was filmed by having John Travolta pull the needle out, then running the film backwards.

2000's:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: "When their relationship turns sour, a couple undergoes a medical procedure to have each other erased from their memories."

Fun Fact: The opening credits appear eighteen minutes into the film.
